She was having a nightmare.

It felt real, but she didn't want it to be. Everything was confusing, twisting and turning around her, and Naomi felt as though she might fall over and out of her bed. She whimpered to herself and rolled over, squeezing her eyes shut and hugging one of her stuffed animals tightly to her chest.

She didn't want to be here. Her mother was busy. That meant...

"Neelix?"

Was he even there? Was he in the room with her?

Normally, it wouldn't matter as much. She loved Neelix and he was very important to her, but normally she could manage on her own.

Tonight... tonight was different.

Tonight, the monster under her bed was back. And Neelix wasn't there to scare it away.

[ okay so. someone had told her that her phone now had an upgrade to contact any communication device in any universe -- the idea that there was a multiverse had blown her brain a bit at first, but she liked to think she was --

okay no she wasn't quite over that yet. details. still, donna stared at her phone for a while longer. it was set on "text" setting, whatever that meant -- no, okay it meant text, obviously, but to whom and why she had no idea. still, if it might bring the doctor back to her -- he'd left her! the audacity -- it was worth a try, right? ]

Come on, then, Doctor.

[ and so she sent a small message to anyone with a phone or similar device of communication in any world. even seers, scrying might be able to intercept it. really, she had no idea. she was just shooting in the dark, as they used to say, though not the dark from the library. that wouldn't do at all. with luck, her message would reach someone. ]

My name is Donna Noble. Can you see this message? Doctor?

This whole thing was a bit... strange, to say the least, which was funny to someone like Sita. Just when she started to get complacent and imagine she'd seen everything - BAM - something came along and surprised her. Oddly enough, she liked that. Surprises were good. Kept her on her toes.

And really, she didn't need to stay in the sick bay for as long as she had. She felt fine after a few days. The reason she did was so she could get used to the brightly colored bird on her bed. Orange, red, gold, and a little green. Pretty. But unnecessary.

"Huh... Didn't think I had a soul." She shrugged. "You learn something new every day."

Once she'd gotten used to the bright bird on her shoulder, she decided she'd had enough of the hospital area. With the bird perched and his talons digging into her shoulder, she dodged out through the door and decided to take a look around.

Time to see what these people were like.
